Botanical Description

Rhizome very slender, creeping. Flowering plants 6-20cm tall. Leaves 1-2.5cm long, triangular-ovate with a subcordate to broadly cuneate base and horny tip. Flowers green, tepals 2-3mm long, lip flushed reddish, 4-5mm long, strap-shaped with two slender-pointed lobes, four to twelve per raceme, late summer. Northern temperate and boreal zones, in coniferous forests, peaty moors, often under heather and in sphagnum moss.
