and L. verruciferum). Small cushion-forming perennial with flowering stems l-6cm tall. Leaves usually glaucous, congested, 5-12mm long, ciliolate, each one tipped by a brown, gland-likebody. Flowers 1.5-2.5cm across, yellow, summer. Turkey, on rocky calcareous slopes and ridges at 950-2100m. In the plant originally described as L. cariense the flowers are carried in clusters of three or more; in L. verruciferum the flowers are solitary and the leaves brown "gland"-tipped. There are in the wild a whole range of intermediate forms, obviously representing the variability of one species.
