Tufted biennial or short-lived perennial sometimes behaving as an annual, usually up to 30cm in height but sometimes much taller. Leaves linear, 1.5-2.5cm long. Flowers pale blue, l-2cm in diameter, summer. Southern and western Europe north to the British Isles, in open grassy places.
