Botanical Description

to 60cm or more tall. Leaves more or less glaucous, linear, 2-6cm long, often whorled below. Racemes slender, long and dense. Flowers 9-12mm long, purple-violet; spurs about 5mm long, curved. Central and southern Italy and Sicily in a variety of habitats, also naturalised throughout Europe. L.p. 'Canon Went' is pink. Generally too tall for the rock garden.
