Botanical Description

Leaves narrowly linear to oblanceolate, 4-15cm long by 2-6mm wide, succulent, glossy green. Flowers almost stemless in better forms, or on 4cm long, almost prostrate stems, usually white, occasionally pink flushed, 2-3.5cm in diameter with five to ten petals, early to late summer. There is a good dwarf, rose pink form in cultivation, origin unknown. Extremely variable species. Widespread from Washington to Colorado and probably into Arizona on wet gravel slopes and in turf and meadows near springs.
