Botanical Description

forming dense clumps of tufted rosettes. Leaves lanceolate, pinnatisect, 2.5-6.5cm long including a longish petiole, with eleven to fifteen linear to lanceolate, more-or-less entire lobes densely adpressed ashy-woolly. Flowering stems to 10cm tall, simple or rarely forked. Flowerheads solitary, hemispherical, the involucres 8-9mm high by 1.2-1.4cm across, densely woolly, containing about forty pink or white florets appearing over a long period in the wild. Chile and Argentina in the central cordillera to central Patagonia on exposed soily mountain slopes at 1000-3000m.
