Flowering stems decumbent, 5-15cm long, radiating from the rosettes. Leaves ovate to rounded, 2-5cm long, stalked, silvery-downy. Flowers yellow, 5-7mm across, early to mid summer. Seed pods semi-globose, to 5mm long. California and Nevada, on dry rocky slopes up to 3500m. L.k. var. cordiformis has narrowly spathulate leaves and smaller seed pods; only above 3150m. L.k. subsp. bernardina has flowers almost 1cm across.
