Vigorous perennial, forming rooting mats to 60cm or more in width. Leaves triangular-ovate, 2-8cm long, irregularly crenate-serrate, plain matt-green or variously zoned with silvery white, summer to autumn. Europe, mainly in the southern half in a variety of habitats. L.m. 'Album' has white flowers, 'Roseum' soft clear pink ones; 'Aureum' bears yellow suffused leaves, while those of 'Beacon Silver' and 'White Nancy' are entirely silvery-white above, the latter also having white flowers.
