Leaves to 30cm tall in summer, deeply bilobed into two fan-shaped segments, each 8-12cm long when mature and with the outer margin strongly scalloped. Flowers white, 2.5-3.5cm wide, with usually eight narrowly oblong petals. Eastern North America from Ontario to Alabama, in woodland.
