Rosette to tufted habit, summer deciduous in the wild. Leaves obovate, bipinnatifid, crisped 15-20cm long. Flowers stemless in a central cluster, 1-1.5cm long, greenish-white, spring under glass. Chilean Andes at montane to subalpine levels, in open, stony places. Confused in cultivation with I. laciniata.
