About 15-25cm in height. Leaves falcate, grey-green, about 5mm wide. Flowers 4.5-6cm in diameter, dark reddish-violet, the falls having a white beard with purple tips, late spring-early summer. Eastern Caucasus, sunny rocky slopes on limestone. Needs plenty of warmth and a fairly dry summer rest to persist and flower well.
