Like I. nicolai, but the flowers deep purple with a glowing orange crest on the falls. Central Asia, in the Pamir-Alai mountains up to 2000m. It seems certain that /I. nicolai and rosenbachiana are no more than colour variants of one species and should be combined under the oldest available name, which is rosenbachiana.
