Botanical Description

This member of the Californicae series forms clumps 20-30cm in height. Leaves evergreen, leathery, to 1cm wide. Flowering stems set with short, bract-like leaves, hence the specific name. Flowers 6-7.5cm across, deep cream to pale or mid-yellow, with brown to reddish-purple veins, early summer. Northern California and adjacent Oregon, in pine forest at 450-1000m.
