Actinella grandiflora, Rydbergia grandiflora).
Tufted, from a branching rootstock or caudex. Leaves mostly basal, pinnatifid to bipinnatifid or sometimes only ternate, the lobes slender, white tomentose. Flowering stems with a few leaves, 10-30cm tall, generally monocarpic. Flowerheads solitary, 4.5-10cm across, rich yellow, summer. Idaho and Montana south to Utah and Colorado, in screes, gravelly grassland and rocky slopes up to 4000m.
