Small mat-forming, usually less than 30cm in diameter. Leaves rounded to kidney-shaped, to 6mm or more across, divided one to two thirds to the base into three to seven broad, crenate lobes, the upper and sometimes the lower surface more or less long-hairy or bristly. Eastern Australia including Tasmania, also Malaysia, tropical Asia and Africa. The hardiest plants are from montane Tasmania where they grow in wet to damp grassland. A variable species in leaf shape, size and hairiness.
