(Hepatica nobilis obtusa, Hepatica nobilis obtusiloba, Hepatica obtusa, Anemone obtusa, Anemone americana)
Height 10-15cm Leaves kidney-shaped, 4-8cm across, with three broader than long, rounded to somewhat flattened lobes, often shaded or mottled purple. Flowers usually six-tepalled, basically bluish-lavender, to 2.5cm in diameter, spring. Other colours and shades occur in the wild and have been named as follows: H.a. forma candida (pure white), purpurea (purple), rhodantha (pink) and cahnae (double blue). Eastern North America, generally in dry woods, often on acid soils.
