Botanical Description

usually erect shrublet to 30cm in height, rarely procumbent. Upper leaves 5-20mm long, linear-lanceolate to elliptic; lower ones ovate-orbicular, all more or less fleshy, stellatetomentose beneath, glabrous and dark green to grey downy above. Flowers white or yellow, 1.5cm across, solitary or in small cymes, late spring to summer. South-western Europe in open, dry woods, scrub and open sites usually on limestone.
