Botanical Description

More or less erect subshrub 20-30cm tall. Leaves oblong-lanceolate, silvery-grey downy beneath and sometimes also above but often green. Flowers yellow, about 2cm across, in terminal cymes, mixed with tiny, petalless, cleistogamous blooms, late spring to late summer. North Carolina to Mississippi and Florida in dunes and open pine forest. Not fully proven for winter hardiness.
