Similar to H. rueppellii, but leaves pinnatifid into twelve or more angular lobes, some of which may have a few small teeth. Flowers generally a paler shade of yellow. East Africa, in mountain, thinly wooded grassland above 2800m. Frost hardy. In the British Isles at least, usually grown and listed wrongly as H. rueppellii and inferior to it in garden value.
