Cistus halimifolius, Helianthemum halimifolium). Erect branching shrub to 1m tall. Leaves about 3cm long, narrowly elliptical, silvery at first then grey-green with silvery scales above. Flowers in panicles (denser in subsp. multiflorum), up to 3.8cm across, bright yellow with or without a darker spot near the base of each petal. Mediterranean region. H.h. var. lasiocalycinum with long hairs interspersed with starry down is native to Morocco. Doubtfully hardy.
