Botanical Description

Thelypteris dryopteris, Phegopteris dryopteris). Rhizomes slender, underground, in time extending 60cm or more in length. Leaves usually 15-30cm in height but sometimes more, deciduous, the blades tripinnate, well-grown ones having the lower pair of pinnae equal in size to all the remainder and creating a trifid appearance, bright yellow-green when young, maturing clear pale green. Full range of genus, in damp woods, sometimes coniferous, and shaded rocks.
