Very much like G. billardieri but usually a little smaller. Southern tip of South America and adjacent islands, in moss on trees and damp rocks. Small plants with leaves to 5cm long from higher altitudes have been called G.m. forma nana or G. nana. They are however, indistinguishable from G. armstrongii and have been so classified by New Zealand botanists.
