Erect habit, 15-35cm in height, usually but not invariably well branched. Leaves linear, entire, 2-5cm long. Flowers 8-12mm long, pink or violet, in cymose clusters. G.l. subsp. bicolor has flowers with a yellow or white throat. G.l. subsp. pinnatisecta has pinnatifid leaves. California and Oregon, in chaparral and clearings in conifer forest at 300-2450m.
