Botanical Description

Closely allied to G. bellidifolia, but more tufted and branching from the base, rarely to 20-30cm across, the purplish stems prostrate at the base. Leaves l-2cm long, dark green, spathulate to narrowly so, more or less fleshy. Flowers entirely white, solitary or in small clusters, to 2cm across, late summer, early autumn. South and Stewart Islands, New Zealand, on sand dunes and coastal rocks. Not totally frost hardy but makes a good alpine house plant.
