with radiating, long-decumbent, slender stems 15-20cm long. Leaves linear-lanceolate, the basal ones to 4cm long, those on the stem shorter with an arching tip. Flowers solitary, narrowly funnel-shaped, 5-6cm long, the spreading lobes bright Cambridge-blue, the tube whitish with greenish-blue lines and spots, late summer. Tibet and northwest China in alpine grassland.
Allied to G. sino-ornata but less robust and with paler, almost iridescent blue flowers. Hybridizes readily with its Asiatic allies and hybrid seedlings are sometimes sold under its name.
