Botanical Description

from a stoutish rootstock, with several erect to ascending stems 15-30cm long. Leaves fairly dense, broadly ovate to rounded, 2-4cm long. Flowers up to 3.5cm long, almost bell-shaped, the folds between the lobes extended into several long slender teeth, deep to pale blue dotted or mottled green to yellowish, usually solitary, sometimes in twos or threes, late summer to autumn. British Columbia to Montana and California to subalpine levels in open forest, stream banks and grassland. [Pl.195]
