Botanical Description

Plant 30-60cm high overall. Basal leaves 10-12cm long, oblong and petiolate. Flowers many, all the ivory-white tepals obovate-oblong, rounded and obtuse, the lateral outer pair reflexed, 1.5cm long including thin green fleshy caudicles. The remaining tepals 7mm long, the inner two heavily green-thickened to papillose along the central three veins, the lip tripartite, yellow 5-6mm long with two semi-orbicular prominent and entire lateral lobes and a narrowly linear central division, the centre densely papillose; vanilla scented. Chile, from the lowlands to the mid-cordillera level between Illapel and Araucania, in grassy or moister places.
