About 70 species of bulbous perennials from temperate Eurasia. They superficially resemble a yellow-flowered Ornithogalum, but are more closely related to Lloydia and Tulipa. They have grassy leaves and six-tepalled flowers in small racemes, panicles or umbels, or sometimes solitary. Most species are rather similar to each other and can present identification problems.
