Botanical Description

Stems 5-12cm high. Basal leaves one, filiform, about the same length, sometimes missing on flowering specimens. Stem leaves many, the lowest lanceolate, the others shorter and narrower with clusters of leafy bulbils in their axils. Flowers solitary or replaced by bulbils, pale yellow, 1-1.5cm across, the tepals oblanceolate. Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Caucasia to Himalaya, on dry stony hillsides and cliff ledges.
