Botanical Description

Bulb of three to four thick scales. Stem 10-40cm tall. Leaves mostly at the base of the stem, elliptic to oblong-lanceolate. Flowers one to four, rarely to fourteen, campanulate, pale greenish or whitish, spotted and streaked with purplish-brown; scent not recorded. Tepals 1.5-2.5cm long, with the nectary 10mm long from near the base. Style about 1.5cm long, trifid, the branches to 1cm. Capsule six-angled, not winged. In northern California, in the Inner Coast Ranges, in screes and dwarf scrub in heavy, stony soil, usually on serpentine, at 600-2000m, flowering in March-June.
