Bulb to 2cm in diameter, often rather elongated. Stem around 7cm tall, often less. Leaves all alternate, broadly lanceolate, greyish-green. Flowers broadly campanulate, greenish grey outside, yellowish-green and spotted inside. Scent not recorded. Tepals rounded at the apex, 3.2-4.5cm long, with a round nectary above the base. Style divided at the apex. Early summer or later. Capsule not winged, the dead petals hanging on until the capsule is ripe. Western China, Tibet and Bhutan, on mobile screes and the moraines of glaciers, often on limestone, at 3000-5000m. [Pl.185].
