Densely tufted to 30cm or more in height in flower. Leaves thread-like (less than 0.2mm wide), dark green. Panicles of spikelets narrow and dense, yellow-green to purplish. Western and central Europe generally in dryish, acid, peaty, sandy or rocky ground.
