Botanical Description

Leaves plain, narrowed into an abrupt petiole. Flowers one to five, large, ice-white with a deep yellow throat. Anthers yellow. Style deeply trilobed. A montane, snow-line species which is difficult to maintain. A lowland Vancouver population is known and may prove easier. Spread from Canada to Oregon in the mountains. [Pl.176]
