Botanical Description

Leaves plain, unmottled, slightly petiolate, undulate. Flowers pure yellow with globular basal auricles and a white clavate style, plainly three lobed. E.g. forma grandiflorum has red anthers, forma chrysandrum has yellow anthers, forma pallidum has white anthers. The various forms grow both alone and in mixed colonies. Cool humus rich soil in light shade but not as easy as many species. Rocky Mountains, along the western side, in light montane woodland and alpine meadows.
