Botanical Description

Woody based perennial 10-30cm tall, sometimes more. Leaves crowded, basal, broadly obovate to rounded, 1-2.5cm long with petioles as long or more, white felted. Flowering stems densely tomentose or floccose, with spreading, forked branches. Flowers solitary, white, pink or yellowish, scattered along the branches, summer. California on dry rocky slopes and ridges, in Joshua tree woodland to subalpine regions at 1200-3300m. Flowers too diffuse to be really effective.
