Cladothamnus pyroliflorus). Erect habit, usually well branched, slow-growing and rarely above 60cm tall in British gardens, but occasionally to 3m in the wild. Leaves sessile, oblanceolate to narrowly oval, 3-5cm long, glabrous, bright green. Flowers 2cm across, composed of five pale green sepals and five ribbon-like, lustrous, coppery-yellow petals, solitary or in twos and threes from the upper leaf axils, around midsummer. Alaska to Oregon, forming thickets in light woodland on moist peaty soils from almost sea level to near the tree line.
