Wahlenbergia pumilio). Height l-3cm Stems erect, simple, leafy. Leaves 8-20mm, linear, ciliate and hairy, with a silvery sheen. Bracts shorter than the flowers. Flowers solitary, sessile, blue-violet or rarely white, 1.4-2cm long. Western Yugoslavia. This is perhaps the finest, and certainly the most compact species, with tiny silvery leaves and large flowers. It requires scree conditions in the garden, or a well-drained compost under glass.
