Plant with a short stem. Leaves spreading, to 4cm long, the blade orbicular, to 8mm long, the petiole hairy. Flowers white, about 1cm across, one to twenty-five on a stem 5-30cm tall from the centre of the rosette. Petals often six. Temperate areas of northern hemisphere, in bogs and moist peaty soils. Forms a sterile hybrid with D. anglica which is occasionally encountered (D. X obovata). It resembles D. intermedia but the flower stem is two to three times as long, erect and arises from the centre of the rosette.
