Botanical Description

Cushion to mat-forming. Leaves 8-10mm long, rigid, linear, densely, stiffly ciliate. Flowers small, bright yellow, in racemes up to 8cm in height, usually less. A very variable species in raceme size, hairiness, etc. Armenia, Turkey, Caucasus, in screes, rock crevices, etc. above 1300m, some forms much higher. The similar i s16 2 D.b. subsp. heterocoma also occurs in European Turkey (Karpathos). D.b. subsp. olympica has leaves glabrous except for marginal cilia, and flowers in head-like racemes. Turkey, Ulu Dag and Caucasus.
