Botanical Description

Tufted to small clump-forming, with leafy flowering stems 5-15cm high. Basal leaves rosetted, small, spathulate, deep green, sparsely to densely hairy. Flowers 6-10mm wide, bright yellow, in dense racemes which elongate with age, spring to early summer. Alaska to Montana south to Arizona and New Mexico, in the montane to alpine zones, in light forest, grassland and stony slopes.
