Similar to D. pulchellum, with flowering stems 25cm tall and leaves oblanceolate to ovate, 5-25cm long including stalk. Flowers five-petalled, up to 2cm long, magenta to white, the tube maroon and yellow, the anthers deep maroon to black, rarely yellow, in umbels of two to seven, late spring to summer. California to Washington State, Wyoming and Montana, in moist grassland, scrub and pine forest at 1360-1825m.
