Moore ex Bak. Rhizomes variable but usually fairly slender and far-creeping, densely light brown scaly. Leaves winter deciduous, triangular in outline, up to 25cm or more long, tri- to quadripinnate, the ultimate segments narrow and notched or toothed. Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, on trees and rocks in the mountains. The hardiest species, growing outside in all but the hardiest winters.
