Similar to D. collina, but of looser habit and getting straggly with age, flowering in late spring and sometimes again in autumn. Fruits fleshy, reddish to orange-brown. Sicily, Italy, Crete, Turkey, Caucasus, Syria, on rocky slopes in maquis and open pinewoods from sea level to 1800m. More tender than D. collina and a much less satisfactory garden plant. [Pl.144]
