Botanical Description

Chamaecytisus purpureus). A tufted shrublet, 30-50cm high and wide. Leaves deciduous, trifoliate, the leaflets obovate, 1-2.5cm long, dark green to slightly glaucous. Flowers purple to lilac-pink, 1.5-2.5cm long, in clusters of two to three, but crowded at the upper nodes and forming a long racemose inflorescence, late spring. Southern and south-eastern Alps, on rocky slopes and amongst scrub over limestone.
