Usually perennial, sometimes biennial, the basal leaves linear-oblanceolate to spathulate, to 4cm long. Flowers white with a yellow eye to 5mm or more across, in a dense bracted thyrse usually to 10cm or a little more in height. California to Washington in subalpine and alpine fellfields at 2700-4100m. A neat, compact, floriferous species with more charm than most.
