Tufted habit with stems up to 15cm height. Leaves either oblanceolate or obovate, 4-10cm long, tapering at the lower end to a long pseudopetiole and covered in numerous short, brittle hairs, swollen at their bases. Flowers white, 3-4mm across, in dense scorpoid cymes to 15cm tall, so highly pubescent as to look rather as if it is covered in short cotton-wool. Argentina in the high, temperate central Cordilleras.
