Botanical Description

of flopping habit, from a deep woody rootstock, either from a single crown or from numerous underground stems. The few-branched 5-20cm long stems bear narrowly lanceolate, acute leaves, 5-2.5cm long. As with its near relative C. capitata, the leaves below the flowers are fused together and appear trifid, quadrifid or even pentafid. The floral parts also resemble that species. Chile, near Coquimbo, on coastal dunes.
