Botanical Description

Corm tunic finely reticulate. Leaves five to ten, up to 1.5mm wide, appearing with the flowers. Flowers about 11cm high, lilac with a pale yellow throat, the styles divided into three reddish-orange branches, autumn. Italy and Yugoslavia, on rocky slopes or sparse scrub up to 1000m. Like C. pallasii, which it somewhat resembles, C. thomasii grows easily in a bulb frame or alpine house and appreciates a summer ripening.
