Botanical Description

Corm tunic reticulate. Leaves three to four, 4-6mm wide, green with conspicuous median stripe appearing some time after the flowers. Flowers to 14cm tall, pale to deep lilac-blue, the deep orange styles divided into three broad and frilled branches, autumn. Northern Greece (Pindus), in light woodland and scrub at 400-900m. Grows well in the open garden though it does not increase rapidly vegetatively.
