Botanical Description

Corm tunic finely reticulate. Leaves numerous, up to 1mm wide, grey-green appearing at or shortly after flowering time. Flowers 12-15cm high, lilac or purple, grey or buff outside, the styles orange-red divided into three branches reaching the tops of the anthers, autumn. Crete, on rocky mountain sides up to 2000m. This is a fine crocus easily grown in bulb frame or alpine house. Like its close relative C. cartwrightianus it may also prove to be a good garden plant in a sunny well drained position.
